Cultivating

Cultivators were used to till the ground after planting seeds. The primary purpose of the cultivator was for weeding the garden. This tool could clean the ground without disturbing the crops.

The cultivators seen here opened up the soil so rain and nutrients could get to the roots of the farmer's crops. Besides growing vegetables, farmers also grew grains such as wheat, rye, barley and oats.
